Here is the agenda for the Dual Language Committee meeting held on November 12, 2015.
All of the PreK-2nd grade bilingual teachers, parapro, ELL coordinator, administrators, and instructional coaches will participate in professional development on Spanish language arts, dual language and best practices in assessment. The participants will attend 3 sessions during November and December provided by consultant, Molly Aceves. Besides consulting with many school districts, Ms. Aceves is a bilingual speech and language pathologist with an extensive background in early literacy in both Spanish and English. These workshops will help our teachers work with current bilingual students and help us to prepare for our dual language implementation in 2017.
On November 2nd-6th, members of the dual language committee attended a national dual language conference, La Cosecha, in New Mexico. At the conference, individuals were able to visit schools teaching dual language, attend sessions to learn about techniques used in dual language classrooms, listen to national speakers, and network with school districts from around the country. Merri Beth Kudrna, Kelly Lynn, and Elvia Villalobos, attendees, were able to bring back many ideas to District 7.
